Monger’s Palate

We are cheesemongers with a passion for artisanal and farmstead cheeses. Everyone has a unique palate, and we want to find the perfect cheese for yours. We use our vast cheese knowledge and love of the curd to bring the cheesemaker’s labor of love to your table. In addition to offering the highest quality cheeses, we also offer a finely curated selection of meat and charcuterie, crackers, bread, dried fruits, nuts, olives, honey, jams, and more to bring your cheese experience to the next level. We also make a mean made-to-order sandwich and offer a beautiful selection of gifts and catering platters.

Meet Lisa

Lisa Griffin

Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Lisa Griffin grew up in a family that loved eating together; she was introduced to a variety of cuisines from an early age.  After studying Art History at Occidental College in Los Angeles, Lisa packed up her bags and moved to New York City to pursue the culinary arts.
Lisa immediately found success, graduating at the top of her class from the International Culinary Center.  After spending seven years working in fine dining and catering, Lisa decided to follow her heart – to cheese – which had always been her favorite food.
Lisa began her cheese career as a Cheesemonger at Murray’s Cheese before working her way up to Associate Director of Murray’s flagship store on Bleecker Street.  Most recently, Lisa moved on to become General Manager at Lucy’s Whey Restaurant on the Upper East Side.  In the meantime, Lisa became an American Cheese Society Certified Cheese Professional (ACS CCP), joining an elite group of talented, cheese-loving professionals.

Lisa has finally landed at Monger’s Palate, her own space, where she can wax poetic about cheese, and share her curd-nerdiness.  Her favorite thing to do (besides eat cheese), is to help people find the cheese that is just right for them, and to share her knowledge through teaching.  Lisa is thrilled at the opportunity to bring her knowledge and love of cheese to Greenpoint and the Brooklyn community, at Monger’s Palate.
